So a few days ago I picked up Hotel Dusk for the DS. (And yesterday I was actually able to find a Black DS Lite, and traded in my old style blue one for it).  I'm only on the second chapter so far, but I like it a lot.  The reviews are right, this is more of an interactive novel than it is a standard game, but it's pretty neat so far.  I really like the art style and old-school adventure game style gameplay is a lot of fun, and works really well on the DS.  Hopefully this'll be one more push in the direction of reviving the Adventure genre, even if only on Nintendo's platforms.
I've also been playing Gears of War when I have the time.

A little Oblivion TES.

Adventure genre needs a major overhaul to be honest. I havent played a brilliant adventure game since Grim Fandango.

As far as I know, for the most part that haven't BEEN any major Adventure game since Grim Fandango. So whether or not the genre needs an overhaul is kind of a moot piont just now since, at least until the DS came out, in the US the genre hasn't really existed in any major way. However I am very happy with the number of games on the DS, and presumably soon on the Wii that could be classified as Adventure games. Hotel Dusk is pretty great, I hear very good things about Pheonix Wright, and have heads that while it's more of an RPG, Trace Memory has elements of the Adventure genre in it (indicentily it's by the same people who made Hotel Dusk).

I've been enjoying Phoenix Wright lately. I might have to pick up this Hotel Dusk.
